Scooters, Bikes & More?
If you are from Tampa or come to visit we know we lack public transportation. It is no secret that the city of Tampa isn't where they want to be to support the demand for public transportation. Although Tampa lacks universal public transportation, there are still many fun ways to get around the city, aside from the typical buses and taxis.
One way of transportation is the Teco Line Street Car. To me, the streetcar is the most "city" like feature for Tampa. It reminds me of San Francisco's trolley cars throughout the city. The StreetCar has 11 total stops throughout Channelside Drive and Ybor City.
Listen, I will be honest with you, I personally have never ridden on the Teco StreetCar, but many people use it to quickly get from Downtown Tampa to Ybor City. For more information on the StreetCar routes and schedules visit, http://www.tecolinestreetcar.org.
Now, when I think of traveling around Tampa I think of traveling on the water! The City of Tampa is surrounded by the Hillsborough River, which allows people to see a different view of the city. The Pirate Water Taxi is open daily and has over 15 stops throughout downtown for customers to get to their destinations.
Aside from using the water taxi to get from point A to point B, the water taxi also puts on events. During the month of October, the water taxi offers Haunted Rivers tours and around Christmas time there are lighted boat tours. To learn more about the Pirate Water Taxi or but tickets to events visit, https://www.piratewatertaxi.com.
Now for probably the most modern means of Transporation that the City of Tampa has to offer, and my personal favorite...BIKES, and SCOOTERS!
The city of Tampa first introduced the bikes through the Coast Bike Share. Around the city of Tampa, there are many docking stations for riders to get started or drop back off. According to Coast Bike Share, riders can download an app and start riding by scanning the bikes QR code.
For more information on specific bike routes visit, https://www.visittampabay.com.
The newest addition to the City of Tampa are the public scooters! According to the City of Tampa, there are four vendors providing the scooters throughout the city like Lime and Brid. Similar to the Bikes, to begin scooting across the city you have to download an app and scan the QR code.
To find out more information about scooters across Tampa Bay, visit https://www.tampagov.net.
If you're coming to Tampa for a walk or looking to see the city in a new way there are plenty of ways for you to get around.
Happy scooting, biking, street carin' or whatever you choose!
Until Next Time!
